Jay Lockhart, a native of West Virginia, attended Freed-Hardeman University and Lipscomb University, where he received the B.A. degree in Bible. He earned the M.A. degree with a concentration in New Testament from the Harding Graduate School of Religion. He completed advanced studies in church administration at Trinity Theological Seminary. Lockhart served as a pulpit minister for twenty-three years in Tyler, Texas, and now serves the church in Benton, Kentucky. He has hosted television and radio programs and has written for several Christian publications. He has served on the Board of Trustees at Freed-Hardeman University since 1997. Lockhart and his wife Arlene have three children and six grandchildren.
